Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to be awarded a perfect score of 10 points in an Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just six years old. Her first competitive event was the national junior championships in where she placed 13th in 1969. In 1970, she took home the title. At her first international event in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior event for countries of the communist bloc she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974, she was an the all-around junior champion. In her very first competition in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals, as well as one silver. She was the first woman to complete a reverse double salo with the uneven parallel bar when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager, Carol Wayne began working in the entertainment business as a performer as figure skater. Along with her younger brother Nina Wayne she was part of the traveling show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. She started her career performing figure skating alongside Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment shows Ice Capades. Ice Capades was a show that featured skaters ice skating with actors.
