As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! It was beginning to make sense, but was far from done. The house would need an enormous amount of work and an enthusiasm of shopping. My three sons and I searched for hidden gems while attending estate sales in order to ensure that my spending was under control. Every week, we would stroll through estate sales and garage sales on Fridays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of antique and brand new furniture. I then spent the rest of my time painting and sanding on our front lawn. Furniture looked this way... and that's the place I discovered my love for restoring. After our home was furnished I couldn't put it down! I had a stand in the market at my local location and sold pieces there. Eventually, I had too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the space available. At home, I began hosting open houses where more than 1000 guests could visit and buy any item they liked on the 1st floor in just one weekend. Growing Days was founded in my own home. Growing Days was not only an extremely successful company, it was it was also a loving family. It was essential to find the right balance to me. I wished to balance being a mother and a successful business owner. Growing Days seemed like the ideal fit. In 2013, my daughter Nora became our fourth daughter. Although I was happy with the direction that my business went, I was feeling like I needed to take a little break. I took a break from creating vintage furniture and also slowed my pace to be at home to help my children. It was exactly what I needed. After a while, off the phone started to ring. I began receiving calls from people asking me to help with their home improvement as well as interior design. They were mostly people who visited my house for furniture. As I went along, I added clients to my list in a series of. But it wasn't long before I managed multiple clients and ran a profitable home improvement business. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if you had said that it would be the foundation of a DIY Network tv series. It's funny to think back to the idea.
