Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was an acclaimed writer, however Linney was raised as a single child by a single mom and nurse. Through the summer months and with her father Linney discovered a love for the theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first at Brown University then at Juilliard School. Beginning her career at the Broadway following her graduation, she debuted in film within two years, and then on television following a year. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV productions and stage shows. There have been numerous awards in her long career. They include 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. Her nominations include five Tony Awards, and three Academy Awards nominations. In spite of all the awards and accolades, the theater is her main interest and she'll continue to perform on screen and stage.
